Vintage or possibly antique Swat, Pakistan engraved wooden amulet used to protect buffalo from the evil eye, diseases, attacks. There is a niche on one side which would have been normally filled with a prayer written on paper, dirt from a holy place or some other holy object and then sealed with wax or a wooden plug. The woods commonly used to make these amulets was either rosewood or cedar. Early 20th Century. Nice patina. Worn. Good condition.
